Welcome, Friends! What started as a whisper of an idea has finally made it to fruition and The Novel Connection is now live for the world to see!
Book bloggers, Helen Barlow and Stacy Millican, have joined together to create exclusive reader and author experiences through connection, specifically The Novel Connection. The concept is simple: through the blog and exclusive in-real-life events, connections will be made between readers and authors. In a world where technology rules, forming and nurturing human connection is vital.
Helen is a thirty-something, wife, and mom of two living 3,000 miles away from her hometown in North-West England. Which is as close to London as her current home in New Jersey is to Washington D.C. She does not drink tea, eat crumpets, or watch Downton Abbey. In fact, she may be slightly anti-anglophile!
An avid reader since a very early age, Helen primarily reads women’s fiction and suspense thrillers, although her favorite author will always be Stephen King, whose books she discovered at the age of 12. Helen spends her days wearing many, many hats working at a travel agency, and her evenings with a book. Unless Netflix or football interferes.
Stacy is almost a decade older than Helen but we won’t rub it in, right? And Stacy does drink tea, both southern sweet iced tea and the proper English tea while watching Downton Abbey but has no clue what a crumpet may be. Mom to three grown children and YaYa to two of the sweetest boys you could ever meet. Just don’t tell the little monsters that!
Descended from a family of readers on both sides it was inevitable Stacy become a voracious reader and book blogger. If she can add author to the title one day then all her dreams will have come true. The first book that changed the entire trajectory of Stacy’s life was by Madeleine L’Engle: A Wrinkle in Time. Stacy’s only regret is Ms. L’Engle never saw the love letter Stacy wrote her hero from afar.
What is The Novel Connection?
The Novel Connection promotes meaningful connections between readers and authors through immersive experiences and online community.
Our exclusive events, as well as The Novel Connection blog, will be the place to have questions answered, learn more about the characters and the settings in your favorite books, and where you can get to know the author not just their photo on a book jacket.
Expanding on our shared passion for books and reading, you’ll also see must-read lists, spotlights on our favorite independent bookstores, and other bookish tidbits.
